Project Description as per Business Plan: Construction, upgrade, rehabilitation and maintenance of 3 Community Parks in the City of Cape Town namely Mitchell’s Plain (Westridge Garden), Khayelitsha (E-Section Park) and Delft (Mandela Peace Park) URBANscapes as a partner in FOCUS Consortium acted as Implementing Agent employing 350 beneficiaries to make up local labour for close to 3 years. The projects’ Scope of Work entailed the provision of pedestrian walkways, children’s play areas, play equipment, fencing, lighting, large trees, lawn and planting, plant propogation nurseries and irrigation. Additional to the normal scope, various training training encompassing personal financial budgeting, health and wellness education, to safety and security and planting etc. was also given for beneficiaries |

In addition, URBANscapes compiled a Business Plan so as to provide motivation and details for securing additional funding so as to ensure sustainability. Throughout this process URBANscapes managed and facilitated a complex public participation process. URBANscapes also sourced, briefed and managed a team of specialists including hydrological Engineers, Ecologists, Arborists and Environental Assessment Practitioner, Urban Designer. |
